Guinness World Records Book reaches heights of its ownThe Guinness World Records 2008 Edition is breaking its own sales records in the run up to Christmas. For the last four weeks it has been the UK’s biggest selling book, which is pretty impressive, when you take into account the fact that the Guinness World Records Book has sold over 100 million copies since it was first launched 53 years ago, and is sold in over 100 countries and published in 24 different languages.
This year’s television and cinema advertisement was shot entirely in Wales by Wales production company greenfield, and features a young Welsh Actor Josh Price as the star of the advertisement. In the ad, Josh is drawn into the book and flies around an internal vortex being drawn towards some of the World Records which attract him the most, such as the worlds largest pop out eyes, and the largest planet in our solar system.
Kate White senior brand manager with Guinness World Records said “ It is absolutely fantastic that we are number one for the fourth week running. It proves that the book is still a huge hit with the target audience, and that the intrigue, fascination and curiosity that the records themselves engender in young people is as real today as it ever has been. We have been absolutely delighted with the response to the Television and Cinema campaign created by greenfield, which is a big part of the reason why our audience just want to own the book. It really has hit the mark”
Bethan Mair Tame, head of creative and production at greenfield said “ This is absolutely fantastic news, and we are so thrilled to have played our part in this record breaking event. We just knew from the moment we answered the brief that our creative execution was a winning formula for the book, and we were delighted when we were selected to create the advertisement. The icing on the cake was finding Josh, who has been a real gem, and is the real star of the show. We look forward to the coming weeks, and we hope that the book sales will continue to rise.”
